He has spent 15 years as direct care staff, supervisor, corporate administrator and executive director. He has devoted his life to working with children who have challenges, those who are at risk, abandoned or neglected. He also serves on the board of Bay Area Rehabilitation Center.

Paul Harris Fellow recognition is given in appreciation to anyone who contributes, outright or cumulatively - or in whose name is contributed - a gift of $1,000 or more to the Annual Programs Fund, PolioPlus, or the Humanitarian Grants program. Happy Bear and Meghan Croker of Bridgehaven Children's Advocacy Center Bridgehaven Children's Advocacy Center Aug 22, 2018 Meghan Croker of Bridgehaven Children's Advocacy Center and Rotarian Paula Torres brought Happy Bear to present the program Aug 22. The program is given in day care centers and classrooms about how to avoid inappropriate touching. Bridgehaven Children's Advocacy Center is a nonprofit organization that was created to help minimize the trauma associated with child abuse investigations. Bridgehaven CAC is an organization that offers programs to help victims of child abuse and neglect. www.bridgehavencac.org

Rotary, Harris Health give Shots for Tots Aug 4, 2018 Aug. 4 Parents & children lined the hallways of Sterling HS to get free shots. Snacks were available and lollypops were handed out afterward. Verenece Villarreal of Harris Health said each year they screen about 600 shot records & administer 300 free shots in our community. Shots for Tots was begun decades ago by the late Dr. Alton Prihoda, a long-time Rotarian. He recruited John Keeler who has organized the event for the past 10 years. Rotary gives $2000 to Bay Area Rehabilitation Ctr Aug 1, 2018 Rotary donated $2,000 to help Bay Area Rehab. Bay Area Rehab offers physical-, occupational-, speech-therapy to anyone who walks in the door regardless of ability to pay. Services include Early Childhood Intervention, pediatric services and adult programs. Opportunity Center offers vocational rehab for those with mental health needs and combined physical needs. They also do work rehabilitation services for community employers, pre-work screenings and offer an aquatic program and exercise programs.

The Rotary Club of Baytown recently donated $5000 to the Eddie Gray Wetlands Center. Eddie Gray Wetlands Center donation May 30, 2018 Our club had a fun meeting May 30, 2018 at the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Center. One volunteer was portrayed as a butterfly, and the other was portrayed as a bird!! Our Rotary Club also donated $5,000 to the Wetlands Center so they can continue to share in the education that meets recreation.

Rotarians work on Intl. Project in Guerrero, MX Apr 25, 2018 Rotary helps sponsor the The Guerrero Surgery and Education Center in the State of Chihuahua, Mexico. Local Rotarians have volunteered a week of their time to help at the clinic in 2012, 2017 and March 2018. Visiting Rotarians Elsa and Walter Branson were recognized at the April 25 Rotary luncheon for their generosity to the Guerrero Clinic both through donations and volunteerism. The Rotary Club donated $4,500 and the Warfords donated an additional $2,000 to the clinic in 2018.

Denisse Heredia is a senior at Goose Creek Memorial and was awarded a $20,000 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Scholarship to attend University of Houston. She wants to earn her bachelor degree, MBA and test to become a CPA.

Rotary Youth Exchange Savannah Litton and her mother, Cassie Gregory Rotary Youth Exchange Jan 24, 2018 Rotarian Cassie Gregory brought her daughter, Savannah Litton, to speak to the club Wed., Jan. 24 about the Rotary Youth Exchange experience Savannah enjoyed traveling to Japan for one month in the summer and then bringing back her new Japanese sister, Yumi, to Texas for the next month. Cassie Gregory and her husband, Dalton, had previously hosted a foreign exchange student, Ami, also from Japan, for a year, a few years ago.

Robert E. Lee Interact Club President Chris Garcia led REL Interact to raise $400 during their Purple Pinkie project and Baytown Rotary will match that with another $600. REL Interact donates to Polio Plus effort Jan 24, 2018 Baytown Rotary President Nick Woolery presents a check to Robert E. Lee Interact Club President Chris Garcia, which will be sent to the Rotary Foundation to assist in efforts to eradicate polio globally. That $1,000 will be matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Total polio cases worldwide were nearly cut in half in 2017, with only 22 cases reported in two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Project Blue Jan 10, 2018 Dr. Mary Pinney spoke about the Project Blue Jail Break Run scheduled for Feb. 24 in Baytown. They helped 13 officers in 2016 and 22 officers in 2017. Project Blue was founded in 2010 in honor of Baytown native and Sugar Land Police Officer - Marcus Lee Zaruba. Marcus died at the age of 29 from an aggressive form of cancer. Marcus' illness highlighted the need for a safety-net charity for non-service-related injuries and illness. Project Blue is funded solely by donations. www.project-blue.org

Paul Harris Fellows December 2017 Dec 20, 2017 The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. A new pin in awarded with each additional $1,000 gifted and called a +1, +2, .... When a pin reaches +5 (five sapphires), the next new pin with a ruby is awarded for +6, and then two for +7 and three for +8.

Heinrich was the person in charge of scheduling speakers for the luncheons all year. Erica Foster is the new Executive Director of the GCCISD Education Foundation. Foster is a Ross S. Sterling alumnus. She holds bachelor and master degrees in business administration. She taught at the Lee College weekend college in the 2017 Spring semester. Dr Mary Pinney Project Blue Dr. Mary Pinney spoke about the Project Blue Jail Break Run scheduled for Feb. 24 in Baytown. They helped 13 officers in 2016 and 22 officers in 2017. Project Blue was founded in 2010 in honor of Baytown native and Sugar Land Police Officer - Marcus Lee Zaruba. Marcus died at the age of 29 from an aggressive form of cancer. Marcus' illness highlighted the need for a safety-net charity for non-service-related injuries and illness. Project Blue is funded solely by donations. Visit www.project-blue.org
