Due to the current lockdown, the members in our community are isolated. We are not able to meet with our respective organizations, see our friends, family members, report to our respective work places, etc. until the coronavirus situation is under control and things have returned to normal. During these unusual times, I want to encourage everyone to continue to stay connected. We might not be able to physically be together, but there is no one who has not been affected by the effects of this virus. Now, more than ever, we need to reach out to each other, check on each other and help those in need when and however we can. I am so proud to be a member of such an outstanding community and look forward to when we can all be together again.
Service Above Self. Yours in Rotary,
President, Rotary Club of Baytown, Texas

For the first time in our memory the Rotary Club of Baytown’s weekly meetings have been suspended. Although we are not able to meet as a group currently until the COVID-19 pandemic is over, we recognize it is more important in times of struggle to find a positive way to support our community, help others in need and give back. Due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, communities worldwide are looking for additional support and resources. Although we have not had the impact that other communities in our state and nation have had, immediate needs in our area are no exception.
The Rotary Club of Baytown is donating $5000 to the Harris Health System to purchase iPads for healthcare workers to be able to connect to COVID-19 patients in isolation outside of the isolation room. This will allow them to make their supply of PPE last longer, which as we know, is in short supply right now.
Since weekly meetings are suspended, the Rotary Club of Baytown is looking to technology to keep our members connected. After a successful district e-meeting on Thursday, March 19th, The Rotary Club of Baytown will be hosting their first virtual club meeting on Wednesday, April 1 at noon via Zoom. If you would like to find out what the Rotary Club of Baytown is all about, please feel free to join us next Wednesday for our e-meeting, or contact me at Sheila.firstname.lastname@example.org or visit baytownrotary.org.
